The 411 From HANDS

Hat City Kitchen

Nestled on the corner of Forest and Valley Street is Hat City Kitchen, contrived out of the movement to revitalize the Valley neighborhood. When Ricci's In the Valley closed down a few years ago, HANDS, Inc. bought the old building and tranformed it into a comfortable restaurant/venue where people can experience the collaboration of art, urban planning, food and music.
Shrimp & Grits
This phenomenal three star “Creosoul” restaurant with an emphasis on quality and integrity. NJ  Monthly Critic's Choice rated Hat City as the "Best New Restaurant" of 2010. HCK delights customers with mouth watering entrees like the crispy yet juicy Southern Fried Chicken, savory Jambalaya and the impeccable pairing of Shrimp and Grits (right).

HCK’s motto “FOOD DRINK MUSIC” appeals to families, critical epicureans, beer fanatics and music lovers at an affordable price.Recently, HCK launched a new website loaded with events to attract patrons to the Valley.

Local, regional and nationally known artists, ranging from jazz, blues, rock, acoustic as well as larger orchestras enthrall patrons with innovative sounds every weekend. Local talent can showcase their skills at Jeff Guenther’s Tuesday Open Rock & Blues Jam; if that’s not your scene try James Lockhart and Corner Pockets’ Thursday night Open R&B Jam.

The best part is all profits from Hat City Kitchen go to support the revitalization of the Valley Arts District neighborhood. True to Orange's history as a small city where culture and commerce meet in the street, Hat City Kitchen is a happy collaboration of art, urban planning, food and music, playing for the neighbors late into the night.
