Celebrating Barry Devone
Bridging Schools, Families, and Community
Barry R. Devone III, MPA, has dedicated his career to strengthening the connection between schools, families, and the broader Orange community. As Community Engagement Officer for Orange Public Schools, he leads strategic efforts that ensure students and families have access to the resources, partnerships, and opportunities they need to thrive.
With more than a decade in this role and over 15 years of leadership experience, Barry has become a trusted connector—bringing together schools, nonprofits, government, and community leaders to create meaningful, lasting impact. His work has helped shape initiatives like Entrepreneurship Day, Parent University, and the OrangeWeek Color Festival, programs that blend education, economic opportunity, and cultural celebration.
“For me, this work is about creating access and opportunity,” Barry shares. “When schools and community organizations are aligned, we can truly meet families where they are and help move them forward.”
Barry’s leadership is grounded in collaboration and results. He has secured and managed more than $10.5 million in federal funding to support programs serving thousands of students across the district. Through this work, he has expanded access to essential services, strengthened family engagement, and helped embed resources directly into schools—supporting not just students, but entire families.
A key part of Barry’s impact is his ability to build strong, trusted partnerships. His collaboration with HANDS has helped bring innovative, community-centered programs to life. “HANDS has always been a committed partner,” he notes. “They are present, responsive, and truly invested in the people of Orange.” Together, these partnerships have created pathways for residents to access education, resources, and opportunities that support long-term success.
Barry also champions the importance of elevating family voice. Through initiatives like Parent University, he has helped create spaces where families can learn, connect, and actively engage in their children’s education. His work reflects a deep belief that education extends beyond the classroom—and that strong communities are built when families are empowered and supported.
A proud advocate for Orange, Barry remains focused on building systems that are inclusive, responsive, and rooted in equity. His leadership continues to strengthen the fabric of the community—ensuring that every student and family has the opportunity to succeed, and that the future of Orange is shaped by collaboration, connection, and shared investment.
